SE335 x 1. XK140 & XK150 Early Model Alternator Conversion Kit to suit vehicles with 10mm wide Fan Belt & Pullies

It is well known that dynamos are not efficient at low speed, but this is when accessories such as electric fans and essential systems &  upgrades  like power-steering, really require the most power from the system. Upgrading from the standard dynamo and regulator system to a self-regulating, efficient, alternator can often be made over-complicated, and many units supplied by companies are far too high output for the standard XK140 & XK150 looms. You may note that new looms available are in fact still only made for a 35-amp system, as original spec. 35A is the max. rating for the std.  XK BM4 Lucas ammeter, which will blow if more power is passed through it. 
Our specialist kit provides you with stress free, easy fitting, all required parts, even the alternator jack plug to retain an original look. You would think that William Lyons put this on the car in the 50's ! You also don't require instrument shunt resistors or loom by-pass parts.

NOTE:  This kit is especially designed for upgrading all variants of the XK140 & Early XK150s retaining the 10mm wide fan belt system, to use original water pump and crank pulley. The new pulley is correct diameter and offset to replace the original. There is also a smaller extra pulley supplied with the alternator, which can be used to create extra low-end output (over-running) if required, but this is a custom fitting.  This kit is a favourite of the XK trade specialists that fit many of these a year.
NOTE: All XK's were originally positive earth, but don't worry as we have included a data sheet that explains how to convert over to the modern, standard, negative earth system to suit, enabling you to use other modern electronic components. Changing to an alternator system can also help to extend the life of your battery. All wiring in (and out) instructions are also included.

NOTE : A customer reported back that his use of an LED ignition light bulb created a number of problems with activating his new alternator, so please ensure you use a new, correct traditional filament bulb to avoid this!
