1 x SE336. XK150 LATER Spec. Alternator Conversion Kit To Suit Late Vehicles with 13mm Wide Fan Belt & Pullies.  It is well known that the dynamo design is not efficient at low speed, but this is when accessories such as  electric fans and other essential systems and upgrades from original spec. (like power-steering) really require the most output from the charging system. Upgrading from standard dynamo & regulator to a self regulating, efficient, alternator can often be made over-complicated as many units supplied by companies are far too high output for the standard XK150 loom (35A max.) The standard B.S. Standard reproduction looms are in fact still only made for a 35 amp system, as original O.E.spec. This is also the maximum rating for the standard Smiths ammeter, which will blow if more power is passed through it. 

Our specialist kit provides you with stress free, easy fitting. All required parts, even correct alternator jack plug are included to retain an original look. You would think that William Lyons put this on the car in the 1950's! You also don't require instrument shunt resistors etc.

All of the parts are to our high quality design standards and the alternator unit is a factory certified Vector brand (or equivalent) new build internals into an original Lucas core body and comes with documentation and individual unit test results and guarantee.

NOTE:  This kit is especially designed for upgrading later variants of the XK150s retaining the 1/2" or 13mm wide fan belt system, to use original water pump and pullies. The new  pulley is the correct diameter and offset to replace the original pulley which was wider and smaller diameter.

All XK's were originally positive earth, but don't worry as we have included a data sheet that explains how to convert over to the modern standard, negative earth system to suit, enabling you to use other modern electronic components. All wiring in (and out) instructions are also included. Changing to an alternator will also help to extend the life of your battery.

 NOTE : A customer reported back that his use of an LED ignition light bulb created a number of problems with activating his new alternator, so please ensure you use a new, correct traditional filament bulb to avoid this!
