This small but important, 'Thimble filter' & spring should be inside each carburettor float inlet, especially as the standard XK fuel line has minimal fllters fitted and all standard ones are this type of crude brass mesh ( tank pick-up plug and inside the fuel pump). The late XK150 does have a glass filter near carbs, but again only uses a flat brass mesh filter.
