4836 x 1 . XK140 & XK150 Correct Speedometer 90°, angle  gearbox  that drives off the XK Overdrive annulus (tail) casting. Not only does this drive alter the cable direction for correct angle to  point the cable the best unobstructed route towards the gauge, but also steps down the thread by 50%, so requires a smaller speedo cable end. This drive uses a 3mm square drive inner cable and needs to be correctly located into the gearbox, so check your speedo drive for damage first to avoid slipping. A thin rubber / nylon or thin metal washer type seal should be fabricated to prevent oil winding up the cable.

Other Jaguar models such as saloon overdrive gearboxes have different annulus castings with take-offs at different positions on the body, so you may identify incorrect  overdrive units from the tail casing design using parts catalogues. NOTE: Also required to fit cables onto many aftermarket XK 5 speed gearbox conversions.
